Hop On
Hop Off Bus
One of the easiest and most convenient
ways to get around Moaco, is to by a one
day pass at a Hop on Hop off bus. In
Monaco, Monaco Le Grand Tour has a nice
route with 12 stops:
From the cruise terminal, the bus followe
the main port to Princesse Stephanie (the
bar and nightlife area by the inner left
corner of the port).
It then follows the port to the Beateau Bus
pier next to Yacht Club de Monaco. Here
are several restaurants and shops, facing
the harbour. Then you go through the
tunnel (known from the annual Formula 1
race) to Jardin Japonais, a japanese garden
by the Grimaldi forum congress center and
not far form the Lavrotto Beach. It
continues along Avenue Princesse Grace
(where all the luxury car dealers are) tho
the easternmost point of the tour (and
Monaco) - the Monte Carlo Sporting Club.
The bus then returns back the same way
and stops below the Villa Sauber (museum
of modern art) until it heads up to the
Monte Carlo Casino. After a short round
trip up along Jardines de la Petite Afrique
and back down the hill along Avenue
Princesse Alice, the next stop is Grimaldi
Sainte Devote with acces to the SNCF (train
station).
Then the bus continues up the hill to
Rocher de Monaco - the Rock of Monaco,
where both the Prince's Palace and the
Musée Océanographique (the aquarium
and the Oceanographic Institute) is
located. The tour continues to the Roseraie
Princesse Grace and the Stade Louis II -
almost on the western border of Monaco
before it continues. The rose garden is part
of Fontvieille Park and honours the
memory of Princess Grace. Stade Louis II is
the home of AS Monaco football club but
also known for the annual Diamond
League track and field competition.
In addition to the transport, you can have a
guided tour by head-phones in 8
languages- French, Italian, English,
German, Russian, Japanese and Chinese -
(headphones included). The shuttle service
operates every 15 minutes. Prices at the
moment is about 25 euros for adults, 10
for children (11 years and under)
