The Princes palace of monaco is home to the Principality’s monarch, Prince Albert II. It is located at The Rock of Monaco and was first built in 1191 as a Genoese fortress. Since the end of the 13th century it has been the home of the Grimaldi family, as it is today. Here are several museums which are interesting for cruise tourists: The State apartment with ceremonial rooms - closed at the moment due to a major restorement (re-open in 2022) The Cars Collection of H.S.H. The Prince of Monaco: 5000m2 with an amazing collection of special antique cars, including many Formula 1 and rally cars Monaco's Zoological Gardens - bulit along side The Rock with small slopes and climbs. Over three hundred animals and about sixty different species, including a hippopotamus. Several annual open-air concerts in the palace's courtyard by Monte-Carlo Philharmonic Orchestra since 1960.
